Pssssst... a tomato is a fruit ........ honest ..... it grows on a vine , has citric acid in it and the seeds inside .

I chose a carrot because they are all year round fun food , boiled , fried , cold or chipped etc. etc. Just like me versitile , happy in colour and disposition .

Artichokes, a bit prickly.

The flowers are lovely though.

So I'm gonna be a Fried Green Tomatoe. Just can't wait for maters in the summer, so these are usually my first taste. Hot, crispy, tangy! Embarassed Cannot believe I just described myself as a fried veg.

Proceed with caution my little fried green friend. I just wanted to be a regular everyday sun ripened tomato and am being chastised because tomatoes are a fruit. Thought maybe there would be a little leeway, but clearly there's Mater haters among us. Embarassed

I always figured a veggie was anything your mother told you to eat. But for anyone who doesn't like it, I got a back up if the criteria is growing on a plant, low citric and seeds on the outside. Won't say it wouldn't swing the debate, but I bet no one would call it a veg. Anyone guess what it would be?

Just not a veggie is it Goosegirl? But it fits the criteria and mom never had to tell me to eat 'em all:D. So I never figured them as a veg.

I looked it up a while ago. I may be wrong but a fruit is anything in which the plant produces an ovary (fruit) that contains seeds and that is the part you eat. So technically, peppers, tomatoes, strawberries, cucumbers, squash, and anything else with seeds in the edible part are fruit. Anything in which you eat the plant and not a seed bearing ovary (fruit) are vegetables. So broccoli, celery, asparagus, etc.

Point being, the ones who said squash and peppers are giving you crap about a tomato being a fruit, guess what, so are they!

I don't think it's 'amber waves of grain'!

Would she have been playing with chaff and chafe?
