SFG Haiku

Post  1airdoc on 2/6/2012, 2:46 pm

I thought it would be nice to begin a thread of haiku about SFG, or gardens in general. For those not familiar with the form, haiku is a form of poetry which originated in Japan. The poem consists of 3 lines with 5 syllables on the first line, 7 syllables on the second line, and 5 syllables on the third line. They typically employ imagery, usually of nature, so the SFG is the perfect inspiration for haiku!

Here's a first example (I had to copy and paste to eliminate the double spacing - don't know how else to do that):

spring's lips, moist with rain
kiss away the winter snow
make my garden blush (by Al from GardenWeb.com)

Write your own or share others that you may find (with acknowledgment, of course!). We can all enjoy a bit of poetry as we gear up for spring planting!

Blended compost - perfect thirds
Roll the tarp - Mel's Mix!

Winter's stark grayness
Longingly eying bleak squares
Yearning for spring's hope

The cold has broken

Newly dug seeds await Spring.
