Earthmaker Aerobic 3-stage compost bin

Post  landarch on 2/18/2012, 8:59 pm

I found a used Earthmaker Aerobic 3-stage compost bin for sale today for $50...does anyone have any opinions on this compost system vs. just using a low-tech, no cost, compost pile?

Any feedback would be greatly apreciated. I posted in the "Compost" section and I'm a newbie so apolgies for the double post here.

I have a traditional pile that I have dubbed a pre-compost pile. However, much of the composting process is accomplished here.

I also have a Mantis CompostTwin that has paid for itself after a year and a half. I'm considering adding earthworm castings as well.

I say this as a preface for this: If you can afford the $50, go for it. You can always do both methods. I started the traditional method because I had so much raw material that the CompostTwin could not handle the capacity. I'm betting that could easily be the case with the Earthmaker Aerobic 3-stage compost bin.
