Tomatoes in North central Kentucky

Post  rrsmith60 on 2/19/2012, 4:51 pm

Hi fellow SFGers.
I'm looking for recommendations for tomato varieties for my area (Lexington/Georgetown) in Kentucky.
Any suggestion out there, preferably indeterminate.

Thanks

Thanks Llama Momma,

Yep, I've been using 133 for a guide the past few years, a great guide.

I was hoping to find some varieties other than those shown in the guide.

I've tried a few Heirlooms with limited success. My San Marzano gave me grief with BER and Arkansas Traveler didn’t do well last year.

What are your best producers up your way??

Oh gosh this year is only my second spring of gardening. No expert here I'm afraid. I can say my local greenhouse has over 50 varieties of transplants each Spring. I guess a lot can grow around here. As for heirooms I'm not the right person to answer you. Sure someone will come along and give us good heirloom advice.

I had a good crop for the amount of plants I had last year of Roma VF.

Yay- another Georgetownian! This is only my 2nd season and I got started late last year, but my Roma's and Super-Sweet Cherry did AWESOME last year! I've got some Brandywine and Betterboy seedlings also going this year but can't seem to figure out what I did with my Cherry tomato seeds from last season. Sad Still considering starting them late if I can find them...but might just stick with what I have. With this crazy weather, who knows what we'll be batteling this summer.
