Another new to SFG Tennessean

Post  CWJones on 2/25/2012, 5:51 pm

After 20+ years of fussing and cussing west Tennessee clay I'm trying something different. I am on the border of the middle and upper south zones but climate is more middle than upper. I'm looking forward to all the good info I can extract from all the knowledgeable people here. Thanks in advance.

Hi CWJ and welcome to the Forum.

CWJones, glad to have you here.

I assume that is SFG Laughing and have to tell you, it is definitely different and you will be glad you tried it. It is so nice to be able to plant in such a loose friable and nutritious growing medium that doesn't clump, lump or have rocks and it drains well too!

Please keep us posted on your progress. You can use the search feature in the upper portion of the Latest Topics column, but feel free to ask questions.

Again, Welcome!

Clay, huh? Are you out by Memphis or over by Georgia? Here in Nashville we have ROCK and declining topsoil. Welcome!

Where I am.

Due west of Nashville. Just Northwest of Paris, home of the World's Biggest Fishfry. And we do have our own Eiffle Tower.

Hi, I just posted for the first time tonight and am from your "neck of the woods". I feel your pain with the clay. It is the worst! Welcome!

Welcome to this end of the state! I live in Middle TN, up near the KY state line, in Clarksville. We'll probably have similar conditions to you here. Last year was my first year in SFG, and I got off to a late start, so I'm looking forward to a full gardening season here. I have my first seeds in and they are sprouting in my covered 4x12 garden. I'm building a new 4X4 for strawberries, and am contemplating pitting in a series of 4X4s for my tomatoes this year.
