Howdy from Gulfport, Ms

Post  Hognot on 3/6/2012, 10:33 am

Many years ago I had the old style sfg. It worked great for a couple of years. Then for some reason I let it go. I am ready to go at it again. Thanks for this forum. I will be back. I have to go to the lumber yard.

hognot,

Nice to have you here.

You say you had the old style SFG, perhaps the amending, digging, and weeding were what caused you to quit.

I hope you have the ALL NEW SQUARE FOOT GARDENING book written by Mel in 2006. It is such an improvement over the old method. No double digging, no amending, next to no weeds, bigger aisles, just wonderful. I changed over from the old style SFG to the ANSFG and the improvements are what has kept me able to garden.

Please find the new book, it is available at Lowes, Book Stores, Online, even here at the SFG Foundation's Store. Perhaps you can even find a copy to borrow from your local library.

Please keep us posted on your progress and feel free to ask questions,

Furbalsmom

Hey there Hognot Smile Welcome to the forum, I am up here in Southwest Ms Smile I love it here, we are transplants from California and a few states in between before finding home here in Miss. I just got home from Lowes with extra lumber for some risers on the potato bed and cedar to put on the potato boxes. Yes the new book of Mel's is so simple!! Lowes has it too.
You are a part of the Lower South Region cant wait to see pics Smile when you can

Hognot,
You can get course vermiculite at Coastline Farm and Garden Supply at the east end of Dedeaux Road. Last price I bought it for a few weeks ago was around $22 for a 4 cu. ft. bag. Only place I've been able to find it.
