How much compost?

Post  joe23 on 3/8/2012, 6:34 pm

So I have Mel's old addition of square foot gardening. Was curious how much compost he suggests adding to the garden each year in the new addition and what time of the year to add it?

Hi Joe23:

Go get the ANSFG book and Mel shows you how much to mix of each product(Vermiculite, Compost and Peat Moss) Well worth it.

Essential reading for a square foot gardener is ALL NEW SQUARE FOOT GARDENING. But in the meantime, consider these threads,

Before spring planting I usually add and mix in about 2 wheel barrows full of compost to a 4x4 bed to bring the mix up and flush with the box.
