I did some cursory research and apparently it is a cooperatively owned company with $42M in sales in 2009.

I just want to thank everyone for their ideas and encourage y'all to keep 'em coming.

I've compiled a list and sent them to Mel. I categorized them into:

Expansion of Mel's "kit" idea and "new" ideas.

I also combined this with the idea of the cement mixing pans that was recently posted. The 2x3 is low cost (and I'm sure the Foundation can get them cheaper in bulk) and the book, grid & soil could be put into them. They can then be shrink wrapped for easy transportation.

I'll let you know what I hear back from Mel.

If we are talking about public education, charity work AND the costs involved then I think I should bring up the option of getting a grant.

Those 2 are from a simple google search but I have zero doubt that there are many more out there that will fit easily in with something mel would like to do.
