Hello from MD

Post  Andrea13 on 3/9/2012, 10:53 pm

Hello from Carroll Co. Maryland!

I'm brand new to all of this and have recently developed an interest in vegetable gardening. My very first raised bed is all ready to go (found vermiculite at HD!), and I'm thinking of planting some of my little snap pea sprouts this weekend (maybe too early, but I'm going to give it a shot since I'm just too excited and can't wait any longer!).

Reading through the forums has really taught me so much already, but I know there is TONS more to learn. Here's wishing everyone a beautiful and fruitful spring, and I look forward to soaking up as much knowledge from you all as possible!

glad you\'re here Andrea13!

YUM! Peas are one of my favorite things to grow and they rarely make it inside the house before they are eaten! Smile

Congrats on the vermiculite find! Smile It sounds like you've read ANSFG and are ready to go with your 2012 garden!

You must be a member for 7 days before you can post pictures, but after that we'd LOVE to see some pics as you progress! Smile

Hi Andrea13, I'm your "neighbor" in Glen Burnie! I've actually got some friends who run a church in Sykesville. In addition to this part of the Forum, we have a Mid-Atlantic Regional Forum (on the Home page, scroll down to the Regional Forums section).

The peas should be fine. You may just need to cover them if it gets too cold.

There is a TON of info on the Forum, and using the Search area will save you the frustration of having to WAIT for us to log on & answer some of your questions.

Again, welcome!

Kim

Hi, I'm down here in Southern Maryland. We have had some truly strange weather the past couple of years but I plant my garden anyway! Good luck with your SFG this year!

Hello Andrea13

Nice to have you using ANSFG method. I live in Ellicott City if you need more info. You should be able to get more Course Vermiculite at the Southern States store in Sykesville.(Ask for Mickey, personal friend) Let me know if you can't because I can get it at the Ellicott City SS store.

Mike

I only discovered it within the past couple of weeks but MAGTAG is Mid-Atlantic Growers Tomato Appreciation Group. I don't know much about it but they meet in August somewhere near Baltimore.
