Hello Garden Friends

Post  RainahJi on 3/13/2012, 12:16 am

Hello good people, Rainah here, this looks like an interesting site...looking forward to getting to know some gardening friends... I live in N. Central Florida, love Nature, and touching the earth. Gardening is my greatest pleasure, I love to grow things..I especially love herbs and perennials, because they don't die..I do grow vegetables but I wish they didn't die... it is so sad to see them fade, but I am grateful for the fruits they bare..Flowers are so magic, their colors, texture and cheery nature really make the garden for me...looking forward to sharing..talk to you soon!
from the heart,
Rainah

Hi Rainah and welcome to the Forum. Have you had a chance to read the All New Square Foot Gardening book yet? We LOVE hearing how everyone's doing with building their beds, getting their vermiculite and 5 types of compost. We try to help everyone be successful with SFG!

It IS sad that veggies eventually die, but if you've bought non-hybrid varieties then you can collect the seeds from the plants and watch their offspring take over for generations to come.

Hi Rainah, We are almost neighbors I live in St.Augustine. We had such a mild winter here that much to my suprise my datil pepper and one of my eggplants survived and are going great. There are some perennial vegitables we can grow because of our weather. I found a book at the libairy called you guessed it "perennial vegitables" you might find a copy at your librairy. Growing passion fruit because I read about them in the book. You may know the vines as maypops. Ok guys it's a florida thing:D
