compost sources
thought i'd share my 6 compost sources as they're readily available in my small town (newark ohio) and hopefully, this will help others find sources, too who are struggling.
walmart has:
scott's premium topsoil (read the ingredients! - it's a blend of compost and some peat moss!)
mushroom compost
organic humus and manure
home depot has:
moo-nure
tsc tractor supply center has
garden compost
cedar's lawn and garden (it's a small family owned garden center in newark ohio) has
chicken manure
peat moss was easily found at:
lowe's
home depot
walmart
meijers
tsc
cedars lawn and garden
vermiculite (coarse) was found cheapest at:
cedars lawn and garden (under $20 for 4 cu ft bag)
i do hope this is helpful as folks are beginning their journey finding the ingredients for mel's mix. in his book he recommends a minimum of 5 compost sources for best outcome.
