Hello from Columbus Ga , lower south

Post  Pepper on 3/18/2012, 7:13 pm

For my foirst post I want to give a shout out to all fellow garders.

I have just finished ( well this morning) planting my first attempt @ SFG. I have 4 beds 4 ft by 8 ft 12 in deep( already wanting a few more:D ). Welllll the fourth bed will have beans from seed when it's trellis is complete.

My first bed has: rutabagas, cabbage, kohlrabi, 3 types of lettuce, onions, and marigolds.

My second bed has: 4 ea of two types of heirloom tomatoes, 1 cherokee purple, and 1 cherry tomatoe.

My third bed has: 1 hill of crook neck squash, 1 hill of zucchini, 1 hill of straight neck squash, and across the back row 8 squares of cucumber(burpless).

My fourth ( uncompleted) bed has; a red sweet bell pepper, a yellow sweet bell pepper, sweet banana pepper, curanelle pepper and a cayene pepper. (interspersed among all beds are marigolds with nasturtium seeds to follow).

I still need two more beds to house winter squash and sweet potatoes.

I am trying two "tire tower" new potatoe plantings. The tires are being stacked and filled as the plants grow. I placed the second tire and partialy filled they yesterday. Some of the plants are already topping the second tire.

Now that most of the hard work is done I look forward to having more "forum" time:lol: Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing .
