Birthday Score

Post  minervalong on 3/20/2012, 9:00 pm

So, since I will be going to see my mother tomorrow, and it is my birthday tomorrow, my two youngest took me to dinner tonite. Score: 1 free meal. And as a gift I got two books --- Worms Eat My Garbage annnnnnnnnnnnnnnddddddddddd "The All New Square Foot Garden"!!!! Lol, they thought it was pitiful that I have checked the dang thing out of the library three times in the last three months. Score: 2 really valuable books. And, since they think I am getting a little old (which some days my bones are telling me it's true) they got me one of those really great garden carts, no more struggling with the old wheelbarrow. I might not have a garden this summer, but they are sure setting me up for a good start when I can build my beds.

Happy Birthday!

Maybe you can rope your two youngins into building your boxes and helping you get started!

Worms are great. My favorites are the ones that are hatched in my purchased compost (Kellogg's NRich) and live completely on what's in the bag! It's my favorite mulch for soil beds.

And I have a worm bin, too.

Enjoy your visit!

thanks for the good wishes, and yep boff, those things do add up.

My girls, and their guys, are all gung ho to help me out. this summer it will be in glazing the greenhouse and cutting firewood. one of them reminded me that there is two walls made of concrete block that was to be the basement of a house on my neighbors property. it ain't never gonna be a house and she suggested we ask the neighbors if we can tear the block out. lots of work, but then we have more time and muscles than money. so hopefully that will be my edging for my beds once we get the greenhouse built.

They are lots of help. Very excited about the garden since they all love fresh veggies. And the middle one is turning into a juicer lol.
