Hey y'all, from Kentucky

My daddy loved looooong garden rows. I used to beg him to plow the garden crossways instead of longways because I'd rather weed or pick 4 rows of beans than one endless row. Now that my husband has retired from military service and having a garden of my own is a reasonable option, I'm excited to learn to garden in sweet little boxes. cheers Looking forward to learning from all of you.

Hi Grit and to the SFG Forum! We discuss many aspects of gardening, but of particular interest is the Square Foot Gardening method outlined by Mel Bartholomew in his 2006 book All New Square Foot Gardening. This Forum is actually an extension of the SFG Foundation. Have you had a chance to read the book yet?

Thanks for the welcome! Yes, I've read The All New SFG. I've been reading about raised bed, container, and small-space gardening for a couple of years, and experimented with some pots and small plots over the years with enough success to be convinced that SFG would be worth the effort. When I stumbled across the all-new method I was thrilled with the simplicity and economy of getting started. I came to the forum in search of sources for vermiculite Laughing ...doesn't everyone?
