kiwi in tubs

Post  dixie on 4/5/2010, 6:04 am

Does anyone grow kiwi in containers? I've been researching kiwis & it seems that I don't have the chill factor requirements, but also don't have a long enough growing season, which to me doesn't make sense. I have given up on peach trees because of late frosts & know kiwi are prone to early awakening & then get killed. I thought about planting in a large (tree size) tub so I could bring it in when late frost threatens. I have a very sturdy trellis & wondered about planting a male & female vine in my tub, locating it by the trellis.

After thinking about it, this might belong in Off-Topic. I don't know how to move it.
