Hi from London England!!

Post  Pink-Gardener on 3/31/2012, 4:21 pm

I;ve already had a lovely welcome from UnderTheBlackWalnut in another thread but I thought I'd post here just to say hi!

I'm brand new at SFG and have literally finished all my digging and making etc after a week of hard work! I have a 6x3 bed and also another which is 2x3 with a sort of offshoot which I haven't measured but I'd estmate it's about a 1.5x1.5 type space, it's full of beetroot at the moment. I also have a 1.5x15. I'm seriously just grabbing at land in my garden where I can get it.

I have been browsing the forums and it's all so interesting! I am so excited for it and am going to do my planting plan now. I will definitely be putting pictures up, they're nowehre as good as some of the ones I've seen but I'm so proud of the beds I've made (previous dirtaphobic) and my friends don't have an interst in my seeds sprouting or that I'm digging up soil...

Look forward to speaking to you all Very Happy

I'm loving this spade/carrot cursor thing

Hello Pink-Gardener , welcome to the site, it's a lot different to the run of the mill square foot set up's.

Thre is oodles to learn and find out but it is well worth it , I've tried the old fashioned digging thing for nearly 45 years & as a resut iof finding this site I'll not be going back to doing it.

Fogive me for being nosey .. you mention that " digging " thing several times & I'm scared .Wink

May I ask if you have the 2006 version of Mel Bartholomew's book " All New Square Foot Gardening "

If not try and get hold of it there is little digging needed if you set up as per Mel's reccommendations.

I live in South Wales just off the West end of the M4 and am happy to help you with UK type stuff.

Hi, yes I've just been reading the Kindle sample and am about ot get it.

The
reason for all the digging is because you literally could not see the
ground under all the plants there. There was no way I could just plonked
my raised beds on top of those plants, it just wouldn't have worked.
I've enjoyed doing it though! Very theraputic to get everything looking
nice and tidy.

Thanks for the UK help, I will surely be coming
your way with my gardening woes, I am not known to be greenfingered. I
have killed multiple cacti
