Hi there!!! Newbie from North Alabama

Post  TechnoHippie4351 on 4/1/2012, 6:06 pm

Hi,
I thought I'd introduce myself. My name is Brianna, I'm from North, Alabama and I'm starting my very first garden this year in 3 (for now) raised 4x6 beds and I've chosen SFG! I'm SUPER excited, but maybe a little bit nervous and overwhelmed. I JUST finished building them today. Now I need to find something to put IN them! Smile I look forward to learning from the vets around here and sharing my successes! (thinking positively. ha)

glad you\'re here Brianna!

Have you had a chance to read All New Square Foot Gardening (2006) yet? The book will help answer some of your initial questions... Smile

Please feel free to check out the threads from the homepage, especially your regional forum, or use the white search box in the upper left to search specific topics. Smile

What to put in them....why Mel's Mix, of course...1/3 peat, 1/3 vermiculite, 1/3 blended compost from at least 5 different sources... Wink

Great to have you here! Smile

Oh cool, I'm in East Limestone County! Smile

I do need to read the book, I haven't yet. I am planning on using Mel's Mix (or the best I can do to get Mel's Mix) at least on the top 6'' of my beds.
