Just curious

Post  Cornerstone on 4/5/2010, 10:48 pm

Have you used any of these methods.

I've never used Garlic Oil Spray but i have used garlic powder sprinkled over the ground and lightly on the leaves.

Never used Hot Pepper Spray but i have used cheap "hot sauce" to help ward off cats. Just sprinkled it on the ground around the boxes and on the OUTSIDE edges of the boxes.
I've used Beer for the Slugs seems to work most of the time.

I would love to here what has and has not worked for others.

vegetation killer

Post  SirTravers on 4/5/2010, 10:55 pm

Here's an effective biodegradable vegetation killer.

Use 1/4 cup of biodegradable soap
1/4 cup of vinegar
1/4 cup of gin....get the cheap stuff
2 Tablespoons of salt

Mix together in a 32 ounce spray bottle and top off with water.
This kills anything you spray it on.

Homemade garden concoctions

Post  sherryeo on 5/8/2011, 11:21 am

Wow, camprn, I love this link! I just spent a few minutes reading some of the information on there and it's just great. I'll be using this link.

It has the most complete listing of things you can compost I've ever seen. This is especially an interest for me right now because I hope to soon be set up to start composting in earnest. I hope to not have to depend on the big box stores for my compost from now on - that just doesn't seem to work out for anybody!! Some surprising thing on the list, though - latex? I don't know that I'd put latex or some of the other things mentioned in my compost. The site admits that everybody might not be comfortable using everything on the list. It's a personal choice.

This link has lots of information on how to do all kinds of things organically and "green."

Thanks for sharing!!! Very Happy

Happy to announce that my experiment with a vinegar, Epson salts and Dawn detergent works! I sprayed some weeds, went to the dentist, came back and they were crispy brown!

2 c.white vinegar, 1/4 c. Epsom salts and 1 teaspoon of Dawn. Dissolve well.
