Ladybug, ladybug

Post  TexasTracy on 4/7/2012, 12:13 pm

I'm so excited! Was at the feed store today to get some Neem for what appear to be spider mites around my green beans when I thought to ask if they carried ladybugs and sure enough, they did. So tonight I will put them out and give them a chance to work their magic. Maybe I won't need to use the Neem afterall.

Apparently my brain IS retaining the information that I have been getting from this forum Very Happy. Thanks so much to all of you!

Tracy, what feed store? I'm trying to find a place to buy ladybugs, but I'm in North Dallas.

Ladybugs in North Dallas

Post  iiiigardener on 4/9/2013, 1:51 pm

Calloway's carries ladybugs - check to be sure they are in stock before you drive over. There is one in Plano and one in McKinney.

If you don't want them all to fly away, you should keep them contained over a plant or two covered with netting or light-weight row cover for about 3 days so they know its their neighborhood.
I got some once and within a couple hours they had all flown away.

Hey there QB,

I love your tip about how to teach lady bugs where their new neighborhood is. I always thought buying lady bugs would be a waste if they most likely would all fly away. Your method makes sense. I plan on using it!!

thanks
