new member from Zone 3 in Canada

Post  beetlebuggy on 4/13/2012, 12:54 pm

Hi everyone!!

I am trying square foot gardening for the first time. I built my boxes, and set them up yesterday. I CAN NOT wait to get planting!! I live in zone 3 in Canada, so I have to wait a little longer yet...it's snowing today. Sad

I am designing a brand new garden at my new home. My goal is to do primarily edible and useful landscaping, with a few pretty flowers thrown in...just because!! Smile. I want to attract birds, bees and butterflies to my yard, as well as feed myself in a more natural, pesticide free, and healthy manner.

I just wanted to "drop in" and say HI. I look forward to meeting everyone, over time. I especially look forward to being able to someday, have enough knowledge to help others out.

Cheers,

Nicole

Welcome fellow Canuck ! It sure is cold today. I planted some plants that do ok in the cold today. Sure hope the seeds don't mind a little snow.

Nicole. I can assure you that within a very short time you will be able to pass on one or two helpful hints to another newbie. So much to learn and you will have so much help, that you will be wanting to spread your new knowledge to others.

Hi Nicole
I lived in Edmonton for a few years, about 20 years ago.
I was able to grow tomatoes, in doors and then planted them in the garden in June. I had great success with California Poppies there. I started them indoors on year and from then on they just seeded themselves and grew wonderfully in my garden, and attracted birds and butterflies.
WELCOME!
