Container Gardener in the Southwest

Hello SFG folks! My name is Dana and I have a big garden here in the Southwest. I do almost all raised beds with a modified Lasagna garden style bed building as well as several large container gardens. My kids are grown and gone so I love to spend my time and energy mothering my gardens. I live at 5,800 ft. elevation so have to wait till after Mother's Day to plant the bulk of the vegetable garden but I've got several of the plants started in my temporary greenhouse (an old school bus) that has lots of South facing windows. So far about 50% of the starts are poking up through the soil.

I look forward to getting to know you folks, sharing photos and tips and commiserating on how to get the best yield and eradicate the squash bugs and grasshoppers.

I also have 15 chickens. Five are menopausal old biddies who still give me about two eggs a day (total) and the other ten are new chicks, about 6 weeks old and getting pretty squirrely and wanting to be outside as soon as it warms up. I name them after Polygamist wives and if I get any roosters I name them after Polygamists and then invite the roosters for Sunday Dinner when they get big enough to fry. Their chicken pen has a sign over the gate that says "Chickensvitch, Eggs Will Make You Free". I have a bit of a twisted sense of humor but I will do my best to stay family friendly and clean on your forum. Here's some pictures of my place "Red Hen Gardens"
