First Turning of Winter Compost Pile

Post  camprn on 4/17/2012, 1:35 pm

Here is the massive winter compost pile.

The compost pile became the final resting place of the holiday gingerbread houses.

Internal temp of the winter pile, it's been quietly doing it's thing for about 5 months. The air temp this day was in the 50Fs.

Prepped bay to turn the pile into. For some reason I believe it will not all fit in there. Shocked

Starting the process of turning.

And the process just keeps going and going...

The composting process obviously was in full swing through the 5 months the pile sat quietly.

First turning complete.

LOL, it sure is. I'll get it a little more under control the next time I turn it.
