Food Revolution Day May 19

Post  Davanna Driggers on 4/18/2012, 5:02 pm

Hey! The Foundation is looking for Certified Teachers to hold Food Revolution Day events around the world in effort to spread awareness of the amazing change that eating from a Square Foot Garden can make in the world's health! Anybody familiar with Jamie Oliver's Food Revolution Day?

Hey Davanna, can you fill us in on some details? How is the foundation supporting Food Revolution day? How can members and Certified Teachers help support Food Revolution Day and the foundation? Very Happy

I watched the show where this guy went to West VA and showed kids what went into the chicken nuggets. It grossed me out, but those kids were actually willing to eat the stuff! I'd love to get involved somehow, but I'm not sure I'll be able to this year.

Food Revolution Day May 19; How to Get Involved

Post  Davanna Driggers on 4/21/2012, 10:34 am

The SFG Foundation (Columbia) is currently co-hosting a FRDay with Columbia College. It will be a day with a Chef teaching how to cook SFG food in a crock pot, family field day activities, and SFG gardens installed for interactive learning and teaching. All at Alcorn Middle School, an inner-city middle school in Columbia, SC.

There is a young lady in Ogden, Utah who is hosting a FRD, she contacted the Foundation asking for a teacher/staff member. So we are working to get someone there for that.

ALL that being said; what we (The Foundation) are encouraging as many CT's as possible to either host a FRD event, or join one to incorporate SFG into the day. A great way to meet new people and share your passion and cause.

It's FREE to participate. Any funds raised will go to the Jamie Oliver Foundation. Go to http://www.foodrevolutionday.com/local-food-events.html to find see the many types of events that are happening. You can even click on the map to see what is happening in your area.

I already have a class scheduled that day at my house. LOL I guess that could count, but I don't have anyone signed up yet.

Food Revolution Day in Columbia, SC

Post  Davanna Driggers on 4/27/2012, 12:09 pm

If you are in the area, we'd love to have you join us at Alcorn Middle School in Columbia SC. On May 19th SFGF and a team from Columbia College are working together to host a fantastic Food Revolution Day with a professional health coach from Bodies in Motion, to teach exercise, Chef Gary Uwannwich to teach and cook, and SFGF to install and teach with two SFG's for the school! Registration is at 9:30am...activities to begin at 10:00am. Victoria Boudman, CEO of SFGF will be there.
Super excite about this project.
If you cannot come, consider hosting a FRD and teaching SFG in your neighborhood. Invite friends to your place for dinner from your SFG,,,,tons of great ideas on www.foodrevolutionday.com

I tried listing my class and haven't heard anything back. SO today I tried to re-list the event and can't load photos.

Sorry, but I DID try.
