That's an awesome carrot. My son would love that it's shaped like a letter. Smile

LOL! That's an awesome picture! I was able to grow carrots in my 6 inches too, but my carrots were different from yours. They actually pierced the weed block, so when I pulled them, they had this weird ring of black stuff around the tip. It took me a while to figure out that it was a piece of weed block still sticking to the carrot.

we were surprised too at the odd shape, but also, how big the carrot was. The tops were so small, we were expecting a much smaller carrot! He ran in the house, and we made carrot smoothies out of it, and it was delicious! carrot

Thank you. I think he's a cutie too! He came over yesterday, and wanted to pick more carrots to make another smoothie. He pulled up some "straight" ones, and was so disappointed that there weren't any "crazy" carrots! LOL I think it's so great that kids can do this, and will actually eat the stuff that's grown when they actually get to pick it and make "smoothies" etc. He put spinach, carrots, apples, bananas, oranges, and drank it down! He kept asking me if his muscles were getting bigger, which "of course" they were Smile

I finally got a chance to show my 5 y/o son the picture, and his first response was "It's a letter carrot."

Great picture. What kind of carrot was it? And how long did it take to grow? I like the ones that are bigger in diameter and not so long & skinny

That's incredible. Seriously - look how fat and thick that carrot is! What?!!! Crazy. Please do share the variety.

And what a cutie-pie!

He's 3 1/2 years old, but he's a big boy. It actually was a pretty good sized one! The variety is Burpee Vita-Rich Hybrid. The seeds are over 3 years old! Save so much $$ with SFG, since you only plant what you need!. I'll try and post a picture of the giant turnip he picked too!

oh man...i can't remember where I got them either? probably K-Mart, Home Depot etc. That bed with the giant turnip was with the pre-bagged MM from Lowe's. However, there were turnips right next to it that were only the size of grapes? I don't know why that happened. We do make our own compost tho, we use house scraps, garden scraps, alpaca manure, lawn clippings, worm castings, whatever we can get! Can't wait to see how that stuff grows! thanks for all the nice comments. I love that little boy Smile

Good grow man. The carrot is grown very well and looks to be more than healthy. I am a bit surprised about the fact that it is grown in soil. I was thinking of indoor.
