SOMETHING EATING MY MARIGOLDS

Post  Pepper on 5/15/2012, 4:16 pm

Something is eating my marigolds. I can not seem to find a culprit, there is never a critter in sight . Seem to eat all the leaves.

and another being consumed

I just hope this is the right area for this post

Looks like my marigolds! I just planted them the other day and checked on them this morning, and all the leaves were chewed on. Did the leaves look kind of wet or slimy? My first thought is slugs, because I know that's what got mine (I saw the slime trail on what was left of my leaves). Slugs are terribly hard to get rid of, but I'm having pretty good luck with Sluggo so far this year.

I put marigolds in my garden just so the slugs will eat those instead of my veggies. It works, too.

Several evenings a week, I will go on slug patrol. Just about every time, I find slugs munching on the marigolds (and leaving my veggies alone cheers ).

I suspect slugs are doing the same thing in your garden. Count your blessings.
