A picture would be nice to help answer your question. What size is your garden; 4x4?

This is my first year with spring/fall crops and I planted spinach, cauliflower and brocolli as well and found that I put spinach in a little late but the cauliflower and brocolli and cabbage take up a lot of room and have had to trim back the bottom leaves as they are crowding out the others.

Definately have to space them a little further apart this fall and next spring. But from what you have told me I would suggest keeping these plants seperated by some of your smaller stuff.

I have done a lot of planting this week! Put a couple of basil plants in planters with geraniums on the deck, replanted kale seeds, planted 6 varieties of peppers (bell, jalapeno, anaheim, sweet and hot banana, and habanero), 4 tomatoes (Better Boy, Yellow Plum, Husky Red Cherry and Lemon Boy) as well as lots of flowers.

Planted my first two 4x2 boxes today. Eight tomatoes (2 beefsteak - 2 large cherry - 2 grape - 2 yellow pear) - a variety of leaf lettuces, one square of spinach, one square of basil, one square of cilantro. A little water and sunshine and everything looked mighty perky.

Tomorrow squash - zucchini - peppers - eggplant - beets - and more tomatoes.

This is getting exciting!
