very small green caterpillar/worm on lettuce

Post  jmsieglaff on 5/31/2012, 9:32 pm

I was washing some Bibb and green leaf lettuce from the garden and noticed a very small light green caterpillar/worm in the sink that came off the lettuce. It's maybe as long as pinky nail, fairly narrow, no real striping with little black/dark brown feet on the front. Anyone know what it might be? I couldn't get the camera to focus on it worth a **** so no picture. Google isn't helping much. I know it's not a hornworm and not a cabbage worm (no velvety appearance). The only things in this bed are lettuce and onions (all other beds are across the yard).

Thanks!

If it isn't a cabbage worm, I am stumped too. Curious to see who comes up with the correct caterpillar/worm.

I didn't find anymore in my lettuce, but did find two on my broccoli. After more searching I'm pretty sure it's a cabbage looper. Spinosad purchase and application coming tomorrow that's for sure.
