New here but not new to SFG

Post  Laydera on Fri Jun 01, 2012 5:06 am

Hello everyone, i'm Katherine. Found Mel many many years ago and fell in love with his system. I have have NEVER once looked back. Havent had a garden in quite a few years so bare with me if i ask questions just to refresh my horrible memory. i honestly think i have read every post on the site so i shouldnt ask too many to start. i am planning to start next year, but we need time to make beds ect so i research everything and get my fever under control while i wait. I hope.... I pray. I wish... Course so does hubby...i have made up plans of what we want to grow and where and i KNOW it needs tweeking but when i figure out how to list it i will. i may just give you all the list and have you all build it for me. a surprise for your garden for the winner.... hmmm gotta think on that one. Sorry for the book. I am in the middle of Kansas zone 6 i believe.

Welcome to the forum. The only suggestion I have at this time is to make sure you have a copy of Mel's latest book ALL NEW SQUAREFOOT GARDENING 2006. With that and this forum, you should be able to get most questions answered. If you have been following Mel then you know to get a compost pile going ASAP. That will make your life easier come next spring when you want to fill your beds. Also start stockpileing the rest of the MM ingredients a little at a time. Makes it easier on the budget. It is not too late to do one bed this year if you are really itching to get started. Even if you have to move it when the final plans are in place.

Take pictures as you progress for your own records and to share. We love pictures.
