What is this!? (ICK!)

We just built our first garden (ever!) and we're going to be tearing out the grass and putting mulch around the beds this weekend. However, this morning I went out to yank out some of the long grass along the box and found a few of these (I admit I stopped pulling back the grass once I found them - grossed me out too much) Very Happy

They do not appear to be grubs (as we have had those in the past)... I didn't see any "legs" and it almost appeared "hairy" or like spiky-ish on the bottom half of it's body. I didn't get close enough to thoroughly inspect it though haha.

Any idea??

I might know this one, look at my avatar, I think it is larvae of a ten lined june beetle. The eggs are laid in the dirt of grass roots and the larvae feed off of the roots. The have hairy undersides too!

I just looked this up and it doesn't appear to be that either. It's not a c-shape and doesn't have any legs. Looks almost like a snail, but without the shell. It's like teardrop shaped. When my husband comes home I will see if he'll pick one up for me and I'll take a better picture Very Happy

But mine are really light... almost white... it just rained - I may go out and look again.

It totally looks like a slug. There are several different kinds, and they love gardens, and love rain/wetness.
My chickens think they are delicious. Wink

Nothing like moving a couple bricks around one early morning and some sluggy thing quickly snapped and squished on my fingers.
It gave me chills blech. Think I wiped my hand in the grass about 20 times.

It's a slug. I have lots of colors - white, brown, tan. They're disgusting! I fling them out into the middle of the lawn for the birds to eat.
