What's in this square?

Post  claudiamedic on 6/22/2012, 11:16 am

I've had lots of help in my garden....and I have managed to end up with a mystery square! I know that the three seedlings on the right are Southern (Crowder) Peas (I planted those). I don't know what the other three are! Oops.

So, help me know if I should pull the mystery-plants and plant more peas (my instinct says to do this since these are the only 3 crowder pea plantings I have) or just leave them and see what I get.......

Warning first: I find it hard to identify things, even when I "know" them. That said, I'll venture a couple of guesses.
Possibly a kale or collard greens, the 2 in the top part. Maybe a rogue dandelion, but not quite toothy enough. Now the other, looks like the first leaves of any cucurbit (I hope that's the right word), a squash, cucumber, watermelon, or such.
Do you have any other plants of any of those--or seeds, since you said you had lots of help in your garden?

I don't know what they are but they look like what I pull out thinking they are weeds.
If they aren't....woops. Shocked

You could always just leave them and see what happens.

Pulled the two on the rear/left that were not-friendly-looking yesterday. Very Happy

...And what'd you do with them-- put 'em in a pot, or just compost/toss 'em?

Just threw them in the compost pile. I've got lots of other 'babies' to nurture. And in this heat/dryness, there's a fair amount of nurturing going on (maybe I should have put a tarp over my 8' high frame -picture from early this season below- today just to give them a break?).

Beautiful set up by the way and I feel your pain with the heat and garden babies.
