Honeydew!

Post  sfg4uKim on 7/26/2012, 1:13 pm

Just harvested a 5 lb 3 oz honeydew melon today. There's another fairly large one just behind it. In addition there is a 3rd HD and a Sugar Baby watermelon all on the same vertical trellis using only the nylon mesh and no additional support.

Woo! That's great! I was wondering how well the nylon trellis would hold. Now let's see how well it'll hold my pumpkins... happy banana

Amazing! In MD, too! Well done!

I don't think I even have any golf balls on my melons yet. Next year they get a trellis so I can see what's going on .

Mine are golf balls on a trellis, on a vine that's about 1 1/2 feet long, so pretty easy to see lol. I planted some more in the "new soil" so hoping to get some growth! I think they look so cool growing vertical!!

How do you know when to pick a honedew? I have a nice one about the size of a volleyball. I don't want to pick it too soon or wait too long, since it's the only one I have. bounce
