Bugs!

Hi all,
I'm hoping you can provide some insight as to what these teeny tiny little buggers are...they are eating my okra with a fury. Is there any way to get rid of them- preferably organic but I'll do whatever it takes.


Also, my peppers are black where the branches extend. Is this a problem?

Normal on the peppers. I don't know on the bugs. I'm just learning myself. I was a Sevin gardener.

The top photo I see what look like aphids. I suggest you use an insecticidal soap (you can make your own) will work. Let the spray do it's magic for about a day and then if you can, spray a stream of water from the hose to dislodge the leftover critters. You may need to reapply periodically. Aphids are sap suckers and aren't making the holes in the leaves.

In the second photo, that looks like the damage my eggplants had from the tortoise beetle. it's unsightly but your damage is minimal and will probably not cause long term effects.

The bottom photo of the pepper looks great! deep purple at stem joints is normal.

1tsp SOAP (not detergent) to 1 quart of water. Shake and spray on the bugs. Here is a thread about it in another forum.
