Instructions on how to make a compost tumbler!

Post  cheyannarach on 8/23/2012, 4:33 pm

Found this link on how to make your own compost tumbler. I have seen quite a few people asking how and I always point them to Rooster, this one looks a lot like the tumbler he made so thought I would share!

I don't know where all the photo's are that I have of mine. thinking
Anyways, that is very similar to mine. Only mine lays horizontal.

The thing that's always concerned me about the vertical design is the weight distribution. I would think all that weight would settle at the bottom and be a real bear to turn.
Since this photo was taken I've added a pallet compost bin modeled after camprn's and an Earth Machine that I received free.
http://www.earthmachine.com/the_earth_machine.html
I must say, I can get a pretty good load into the Earth Machine and it's a compost monster. It churns it out pretty dang quick. I've been pleasantly surprised. If anyone is looking for something contained and live in an area they need to keep the wonderful scent of compost composting at bay, I would say it's a decent choice. I've had no complaints...especially considering the price tongue
