AUS: What's in your Spring garden?

Post  ericam on 9/16/2012, 5:46 am

So Aussie's what are you planting in your Spring garden, surely I'm not the only Aussie on this site, come and share your garden plans!

I'm planting lots of things, it's a bit of an adventure as I'm a vege garden newbie.

Three types of tomato (just starting to sprout)
San Marzano
Earl of Edgecombe
Baby Red Pear

Carrots - Nantes 2, Solar Yellow, Purple Dragon and Atomic Red (my eldest loves carrots and wanted lots of colors!)

Sweet Corn - Golden Bantam

Cucumber - Muncher Burpless

Sweet Capsicum - my only transplant, an impulse purchase from Aldi

Sweet Potato - started from a store bought tatie that sprouted in the pantry

Potato - Sebago
Radish - Saxa
Peas - Massey Gem
Onion - Creamgold
Garlic - started from shop bought bulbs
Lettuce - Darwin and Red Oak Leaf
Winter Microgreen Mix

The cauliflower (Purple Sicily) and broccoli (Romanesco) that I planted in April are still going and so are my leeks.

I've got some Marigolds planted near where the tomatoes are going and after watching Graham on BHG on Friday night I've bought some basil seed and have put those in near the toms too.

He said that basil will repell white fly. Need one basil plant per tomato plant apparently.

We don't really use much basil and I have no idea if white fly is a problem around here but I figured it wouldn't hurt to give it a go and I can always make pesto for Christmas presents! Laughing
