Microwave turntable food safety?

Post  A.H.Vincent on 10/19/2012, 4:52 am

Hi there,

I want to use my microwave turtable dish (the one that comes with microwaves).

Is it ok to use as a plate to hold my sauerkraut down for fermentation?

I'm 99% sure is should be fine but just making sure.

Additionally, is windows glass and glass for aquariums food safe also?

THanks

That's a difficult question. I use clear glass for everything I eat off of and store as long as there's no lead in it.

I am more inclined to use ceramic than glass; lower risk of shattering and ruining a whole batch of kraut.
