Desert Bear entering the NET

Post  Desert Bear on 11/9/2012, 6:12 am

Hello square foot gardeners,
I am Tim a dedicated servant to the people of the United States of America. I love to work in and on my square foot garden. I have a family of three with two additional members of the four legged variety. I live in columbus, Georgia and have learned that I hate squash bugs. Happy gardening to you all. glad you\'re here

Hello Tim, welcome to the forum. I am just north of you in Brooks, Ga. About 25 miles south of the Atlanta Airport.

Are you growing anything this fall. I am trying a fall garden this year. I have broccoli, cauliflower, chard, cabbage, kale, brussel sprouts, and lettuce growing now.

I also built a temporary hoop house and moved some tomatoes, cucumbers, summer squash, and blackeyed peas into the hoop house. I planted them late in the season in large pots so I could move them into the hoop house when it got cold.

I had squash vine borers this summer on my squash. I do not know if I had any squash bugs but they did not bother my squash if I did have any.

Desert Bear glad you\'re here to the forum. I also am in Columbus this is/was my first year SGFing. I had more bugs that I knew what to do with;squash vine borers, pickle worms; threesidedleafhoppers; and some I never figured out the name for.
MM is fairly easy to find the ingredients for : Peat moss, vermiculite & worm castings- Tomar on Macon Rd(also a large selection of organic pest controls); Mushroom compost,Black Kow &Black Hen manure products-Lowes on Veterans; cotton bur & chicken composts -Ace Hardware on St Mary's rd( on right just east of I-185). Tomar has a North location also that may have the ingredients the Macon Rd store is out of.
Good luck with your garden(s). This place LOVES pictures.

Looking forward to chatting with ya.

Pepper
