Hi from another Texan

Post  Weazy on 12/10/2012, 12:09 am

I'm about 50 miles northeast of Dallas.
I had a garden many years ago but got discouraged when the weather was unusually wet and all new seedlings rotted (it's usually too dry). I started a garden again 2 years ago. I don't have boxes, just raised beds, but I'm trying to use sq. ft. methods in them, more or less.
I recently retired the old classic Sqare Foot Gardening book and bought 2 of the newer edition, one for me and one for my daughter.
I'm so glad I found this site. At first glance, it appears there is a lot of good information here.

Welcome! I'm in Grand Prairie, between Dallas and Ft. Worth. I'm just on my second year of SFG and I love it. I actually have veggies...something I didn't have the first season I tried it "regular" way.

Welcome to the forum!

There is something BETWEEN FTW and Dallas? Besides one long highway? thinking Been a long time since I was around there. Was back in '82 for a brother's wedding. Not since.

Actually, there is Grand Prairie and Arlington (home to the Texas Rangers and the new Dallas Cowboy stadium).

I really don't remember much of the area. I moved to Iowa when I was 13. My family moved back to Dallas when I was 18 but by then I had a job/fiance...and didn't want to go lol..

My brother worked on the electrical in the Arlington Stadium. But I had no idea where Arlington was in that area. My brother lives in Justin (moved from Irving after 25yrs). My sister lives in Wylie. My father lived in Dennison when he passed a few years ago.

He does tease me terrible about having tomatoes when I still have snow rofl
