3rd World Gardening Question for Moderator or ?

Post  audrey.jeanne.roberts on 1/27/2013, 8:23 pm

I have a friend that works with an NGO (Non-Governmental Organization) in a somewhat closed country I can't really mention in an open forum. I'd like to know more about the program SFG is doing in 3rd world countries to find out if there's a way to get materials and information that might be appropriate to this country and their needs.

My friend would pass it along to whomever it might be appropriate for. Today, in talking with her, she mentioned how hard it is for people (especially women) to provide food for their families. I couldn't stop thinking about SFG and/or other resources. Not only would it be a blessing for them, but being self-sufficient would provide so much dignity in the process.

Thanks for anything you can help with or point me in the right direction for.
Audrey

The best part of SFG (or square meter gardening) in 3rd world countries is that they can find scrap materials for the raised beds and pure compost instead of Mel's Mix.

One of the best things to do is learn about composting junk weeds, food waste and scrap paper and involving the elderly, women and the young in this effort.
