Hello from Cincinnati Ohio

Post  Cinnamon on 1/27/2013, 11:22 pm

Hello everyone. I havent really gotten started yet, trying to get information togather. Also, planning on using tax return for materials seeds etc... and they delayed that so I guess I am a little behind on getting ready to have my garden this year...

It is something I have been kicking around for a few years as I love being outdoors and working outside but landscaping isnt really my thing ... I grew up going to my dads farm every weekend and most of the summer and I really miss it...

I have forgotten most of what I used to know but I suspect some of it will come back to me... I read part of the original Sq Ft gardening book and I think it is a great system and i live in the city so it will maximize my space although I have a fair size back yard.

I plan on growing a garden not only for my own source of fresh produce but also to hopefully sell some to others. We have a food desert here in our city and we need more local growers.

Anyway,... Im looking forward to reading the new book and moving forward with this project. Thanks in advance for your help and thanks for this forum. there is an overwhelming amount of info on here. Smile its great!

For those who might be wondering, Cinnamon is my real name and I couldnt believe I got it as my username bc its ALWAYS taken! also like to give a shout out to Bee as I am cincy born and raised as well.

Well howdy,
I'm in Yuma, AZ. For your building materials for your beds just keep your eyes open and you will be surprized at what you can find and repurpose. All of my garden items that I used was repurposed except for the deck screws, them I had to buy, but all the materials, like wood and stuff didn't cost me anything but time to pull nails and screws out of it.
Have fun in your endever and this group is great. Nice and friendly folk.
