Hello from Flagstaff, AZ

Post  briasandia on 3/22/2013, 10:32 pm

Hi folks, nice to meet you. I have lived here in Flagstaff for just over 4 years and this will be my 3rd garden this year, so getting in a little experience at 7000ft, but sooo much more to learn. I'm not quite sure where I fit in on the Regional Section you have, so if someone can help me out there it would be much appreciated!
I've grown up with gardens, with the wonderful temps in Tenn and Ga, to the ever changing climate of Maine. Nothing beats where I'm at though for confusion because it can be sweet Georgia sunshine one minute and Maine rain the next, toss in a good hard hail storm and super high winds you got it about right for Flagstaff.
Glad to be among friends!
Sandi

Welcome to the forum! Looks like you are in the Southwestern Deserts region! http://squarefoot.creatingforum.com/t872-what-is-a-region-for-with-map

Sounds like a case of if you don't like the weather just wait a minute! Very Happy

Hey neighbor!
I'm over in Prescott Valley, just getting restarted, though this year will be tough with a move happening slap in the middle of gardening season!
I'm sure we'll have ample opportunity to swap knowledge and maybe a few seeds!

Howdy from the SW corner of the state Its been triple digit weather down here for a month. Normally you would fit into the Southwest Desert section of the forum which includes AZ even though you have the benies of higher altitude you are still in the state. I dont have the privlege of planting a real spring garden until the fall as most of the leafy greens go in in Sept. down here. Same with root crops except sweet potatoes which can go in until the middle of May. Have fun and welcome to the forum.
