I missed the "sow indoors" date

Post  WI FarmChick on 4/21/2013, 6:16 pm

I have been converting my old garden into SFG. It has been raining here just about every day or so. I have everything ready to go once the ground dries out enough to level it and set up my SFG.

I was wondering what would happen if I missed the "sow indoors" date and just directly planted my asparagus seeds right in the garden.
I will be planting just about the time harvesting would start.

Would the asparagus be strong or large enough to make it through the winter?

Would this also be a problem for other seeds like onions?

Not sure if I should wait till next year or just plant it.

I found this on asparagus and thought it may help:

We've got plenty of asparagus that grow wild here on the farm, along the fence lines and ditch banks, so I've never bothered planting them. Good luck!
