Neem and BT - can they be applied at the same time?

Post  iiiigardener on 5/26/2013, 12:44 am

Hi, I have problems with various pests and am using Neem and BT. Is it possible to apply them at the same time? If not, which should be applied first and how long should I wait before applying the second one?

This question was asked a few weeks ago... have you looked through the recent Pests threads? There is some good info there. Pollinator has written some very good posts about insect pests in the garden.

What are you trying to control?

My advice is, with all garden products, know what the problem is and treat it with the correct product but you must READ AND FOLLOW ALL LABEL DIRECTIONS. Does the label say it is ok to mix with another product?

Re: Neem and BT - can they be applied at the same time?

Post  iiiigardener on 5/26/2013, 9:31 am

Hi, I did try looking through the Pests threads - what I found was information about Neem and Peppermint oil. I didn't find one that addressed Neem and BT which are the two that I am using.

I am using BT to control a really bad infestation of white cabbage moth. The little green bugs are eating a good number of my plants and BT seems to be working. It's been raining a lot around here and I need to reapply it.

I am using Neem to control fungal problems due to the rain as well as aphids and a few other pests. As it has been raining, and the fungal problems are rearing their heads, I need to apply it soon.

I wasn't actually going to mix the two together though I can see why my title implies it. What I wanted to do was apply one and then the other. I was concerned about which to apply first as BT washes off. So, Neem first and wait how long and then BT on the same day? Or do I need to put a day in between? I keep trying to figure out if whether the black spots are worse than the caterpillars destroying the leaves. I was hoping someone could give me a quick and easy answer.
