Propagating Orchids?

Post  ksyrium on 7/2/2013, 1:36 pm

So my fiance has a couple orchids that have lost their flowers and I'm interested in trying to propagate some new plants from them. She has a phalaenopsis and a cymbidium orchid.

I've searched around the web quite a bit and have read a lot about keiki and other orchid related propagation, but nothing good, other then what to do when bulbs or keiki are present.

Do they just grow on their own? Is it possible to grow new plants from the flower stem and using rooting hormone?

Im curious if anyone on here has any experience with try this?

Thanks,

Matt
