Garden updates

Post  sarah465 on 7/16/2013, 1:04 am

Ok, Gwennifer, thanks for the encouragement Smile

We've been eating pretty regularly out of our garden so far.  My boyfriend has made a batch of kim chi from our napa cabbages, we eat kale regularly, and I had the first cherry tomato this week!  I also got a new phone so have been playing with the camera.  Here are some shots of the garden:

One of the napa cabbages...

Radish - French Breakfast from a few weeks ago. Second planting all bolted so now waiting on the third - so far looks to be in better shape.

Cherry tomato

Cipollini onions, chard, cabbage in the background

Funny little Parisienne carrots

Pip, the lovebird enjoying some Red Russian Kale Smile

Our squash is finally growing and has little flowers, the melon has yet to take off...fingers crossed on that one still.

Everyone's gardens look so fantastic!! Such inspirations! bounce

Oh I don't know how I missed this! silly me

sarah465, I'm so glad you found us here in the PNW section and thanks so much for the great photos of your garden - looks like you've got all kinds of stuff going on. That cabbage is fantastic - is that you hiding behind it? I just had some sauerkraut turkey burgers yesterday and was thinking I need to try growing cabbage and making my own sauerkraut. That would be fun.

Making kimchi sounds like fun. Korean friends have told me, though, that they make it in a fridge in the garage because it's really hard not to stink up the fridge doing it. I think some of them used a bury-it-in-a-jar-in-the-ground method too, like in the old days.

Anyway your cabbage looks pretty spectacular! And your new phone takes really nice pictures.
