Hello From the UK

Post  Pauline01UK on 7/21/2013, 12:26 pm

I haven't tried square foot gardening yet so I joined SFG to to learn more about it.  I plant mostly in containers at the moment and I'm going to build some raised beds later in the year to get them ready to plant in next year Smile

glad you\'re here from California. Off the top of my head, you have at least 2 active countrymen in this Forum, Plantoid and Frenchbean.

First advice from this Newbie gardener is to get a copy of Mel Bartholomew's All New Square Foot Gardening book, preferably the second edition 2012-13. I bought a used copy of the 2006 first edition off of eBay. study  You will have a better understanding of the SFG method that is supported here on the Forum. Again, welcome.

welcome to the  Forum, Pauline01UK (May I just call you Pauline?)
Until you get the book, you may find some basics by hovering your cursor on the upper left of the home page. There's a search feature, too, if you have a specific question--and if you don't find an answer there, people here are very helpful.Smile

Hi Pauline , Sorry for my tardy comment I've been away on a great holiday  elsewhere in the UK .
Welcome to the amazing world of SFG Mel Bartholomew's style .

What skills and experiences do you bring to our site (I'm  still looking for a treacle bender  Very Happy )

Have you spent any time reading the older posts ?   If not it's worth while as there are themes to follow through that explain all sorts of things and especially learning form others successes and mistakes.

Don't be afraid to ask question .. we tend to run on the principle of ...... there are no daft /stupid questions . and if you ask a question  there will be many more too shy to ask the same sort of question.

I hope your time with us is long and of benefit to us all , I'm looking forward to reading your posts.
