Large Scale SFG in South of India

Hi My name is Madhu Sudan (Maddy) from Bangalore India and exploring the possibility to set up 2 to 4 acres of SF Farming in Bangalore and before I start the venture wanted to visit place where they are doing large scale farming and understand benefits and challenges.

I have a terrace gardening already...

Welcome! That is very ambitious!

I would love to see some pictures of what you've got and what you get going.

And I would be interested in how things work for you in India. When I think India, I always think of terrible heat.

Maddy,  Welcome from California, US.  You have a very ambitious goal.  Most of us measure our gardens in square feet and you are considering 2-4 acres, in addition to your terrace.

Will you be undertaking this by your self or will it be gardened by several families? Yes, please take and post photos.  We all love to see what other gardens are like.  It will also help us help you with your questions.  Please feel free to ask all the questions you want.  glad you\'re here

Welcome!
One thing to note here. The Sfg method was designed for gardening. Not farming. There is a difference, and Mel mentions this in his book. I don't have it in front of me at the moment, but there becomes a point where the method is no longer feasible. (If someone has the book handy, please respond.)
For growing food on such a large scale, I would suggest contacting the foundation.

First, a belated welcome from Western Oregon, USA (note your original message was in 2013).  How is your SFGardening going?  Any beds in?  What composts do you have available to you?  By your name: K2Madhu, are you in the northern part of India, and can you see the peak of K2?  Can't wait to hear about your new adventure, and to see some of your existing terraces.  And I have a secret hope that you'll share some of your favorite recipes for your produce.  (We are fascinated and delighted with Indian-inspired foods, to the extent that I'm trying to grow some authentic vegetables from India, like Sikkim cucumbers.)  Looking forward to hearing of your garden.  Nonna
