Industrial Vermiculite?

Post  TaylorNH on 4/25/2010, 2:08 pm

I've been doing internet searches for vermiculite, and have found a bunch sold for packing hazardous waste stuff in. So if it spills, the vermiculite absorbs it. Is this the same stuff I'm putting in my garden?

Basically, yes. I understand that the shipping kind tends to be medium rather than coarse. It is also used for insulation.

Industrial Vermiculite

Post  donnainzone10 on 4/26/2010, 9:20 am

I don't know about other shipping companies, but U-Line features different grades of vermiculite for shipping different types of products. Its #4 grade is SUPER coarse, and I love it.
