recycled containers for seed starting

Post  PeggyC on 4/26/2010, 10:23 am

Hey Everyone! This will be my 2.5th year doing SFG. I have bought my plants in the past, but this year am starting seeds inside. I planted a couple weeks ago and have blogged about my "system" here: http://craftycrofts.blogspot.com/2010/04/belated-earth-day-post-recycled-seed.html

It's an experiment, but I LOVE saving money, thought you might like to too. So far it's going well!!

OOooo, I love this! I saw a neighbor's front porch the other day and she also had a bunch of seedlings in egg shells. Thanks for the link - and the inspiration!

Peggy, I am impressed not only with the egg shell starters but the fact you have been doing SFG for 2.5 years! I am sure during that time you have learned a lot. Here's hoping you post some more of your great ideas and experience!

not sure why you'd be impressed by 2.5 yrs! When you see the pic of the first .5 year, you'll wonder too!

I've now posted an explanation of my first 1.5 years: http://craftycrofts.blogspot.com/2010/05/square-foot-gardening-my-beginning.html

and the beginning of this year: http://craftycrofts.blogspot.com/2010/05/square-foot-garden-2010.html
