Thought on leaf gathering

Post  jimmy cee on 10/8/2013, 9:03 am

For people living in communities where leaves are collected at your curb.
Consider contacting the dept's involved, ask them to drop off a load of collected leaves where you can easily store, or move them to storage.
I have a friend who has done this every year since I've know him. (40+ years)
When planting season arrives next year, it's all ready to be used for a mulch.
He has a huge (row) garden, that produces fine veggies including a large potato patch
I just added what he had left over to my compost pile

Or ask some neighbors if you could haul away their leaves. Last year, I had several neighbors who donated bags they'd already filled.

The reason I mentioned the leaf trucks is that everything inside has been shredded by the vacuum blowers, no need to do anything but store it.
