Welcome Edwin. How are you interested in Gardening. Can you follow the Square Foot Gardening Method.

I am currently in Palawan, Philippines and am working toward starting a SFG. I have some things in buckets right now and don't have my proper Mel's Mix or even total compost available yet.

Kay

Hi Kay! I find peace in gardening and I just love to see the things grow and thrive. I am still quite new to SFG though.

I do have some plants in containers like my zuchinnis and tomatoes are grown in boxes. Last time I did plant lettuces too! I am moving to compost now since it is quite easily available in Kuching, I am moving towards trying to make my own compost. Normally I my mix will be peat soil (imported from Holland) and mix it with compost and a little of the normal soil we use here.

But because it is always hot down here. Plants are susceptible to pest =(, so need to keep and eye on it

Welcome Edwin!!! Wish you could send some heat this way. We are currently in the midst of a cold wave, with temperatures really dropping tonight around 5 degrees. Glad you find peace in gardening. I do, too! And I love this forum!

welcome Edwinlgk!  I would love to have some of your heat as well, as we have just over 4 months of growing weather here, then ice and snow.  However, being able to see the Northern Lights is a good trade-off!  Keep us updated on your progress - we LOVE pictures!

GG

PS - are you right in the city, near the beach, in the countryside, etc?

Hello there Goosegirl!

Should we trade a bit of weather to balance things up? hahahaha

Basically we are facing the monsoon season everyday is rain or must rain so pretty wet and humidity shoots up hahaha

Basically for Kuching, the place I live in it is a pretty wet place as it rains a lot down here. =S

I'll be posting photos =D

Good to hear from you Edwinlgk! I understand about the monsoon season. Some friends of mine are to the north of you in Myanmar and they say they have 2 seasons: Hot, then Hot and Wet!

Hello Edwin

I am a newbie too but based in Suffolk, UK. I have never actually stepped foot in Malaysia but have looked over from a bird watching hide in Singapore.
